When embarking on recovery from stress, food, and body image issues- we can find the deepest change when we find and allow a spiritual compass to guide our transformation.
Even when our problems are more localized to relationships and life-purpose, a sacred approach is key.

An interesting result of this work- inner work that includes an element of spirituality- is that our goals and aspirations dramatically shift. This is part of profound change.

Hear about other results of inner spiritual recovery in my latest podcast episode.

Our Common
Struggle: Goals Based
On External Ideals

Our common mindset in society today revolves around getting validation from outside- ultimately feeling worthy of love through earning it. People attempt to earn validation through achieving a certain body type, dieting success, social approval, or material gains.

The cycle of needing validation and never reaching a real sense of worthiness is stress-generating. This doesn't only cause stressful thoughts. This stress is a real tension that solidifies in the nervous system and blocks the flow of energy, creativity, and intelligence.

Aside from this pain, having goals that center on body and social image- or any external factors- are rooted in societal pressures and lack any depth that could generate inner transformation.

The Turning Point:
Embracing Spiritual
Transformation

A wonderful thing to know is that we get to choose our direction. We can pivot on our journey up the social ladder, and jump onto an entirely new path- not one that climbs higher above others, but one that bridges across a deep chasm of separateness; connecting us to the unity upon which all being rests.

Spiritual practices that are simple and straightforward, like mindfulness, self reflection, and spending time in nature are ways that every person can cross this bridge. When we shift the focus from appearances to inner-wholeness we can dissolve daily stress in wisdom. A delightful result is that one can wake up to their true nature this way.

Health is fundamentally holistic, it includes physical, emotional, and spiritual connectedness. We cannot be in touch with the sacred while placing more importance on a certain image or weight.

Stepping Into Alignment: Cultivating Inner Peace and Authenticity

Spiritual transformation fosters new goals that prioritize self-compassion, authenticity, and balance. When we shift our attention this way a balanced life emerges simply through living and aligning with values that are true in the deepest sense of ourselves.

Values like kindness, equanimity, acceptance, and humility determine decisions that shape our goals along lines of well being for all- instead of an individualistic mindset- which diet-culture and social-climbing rely on.
Instead of striving for perfection, the focus becomes on personal evolution, healing, and connection to the present moment.

An often understated aspect of spirituality is welcoming the body- YOUR body- as the body of Buddha, God, Goddess, Omnipotence, Universal Intelligence, Source, Spirit- or whatever you choose to call it. This means nurturing a healthy relationship with food and the body- free from guilt and shame, while building a life based on one’s true values. This is of the utmost importance, and where most of us must begin spiritual transformation.

Moving Toward a More Fulfilling Future

When we embrace the spiritual aspect of our own evolution, we allow a shift in priorities: the goal is no longer perfection or approval from anything/anyone outside, but connection to a deeper wisdom that guides our lives.

There is a profound freedom in waking up to our inherent wholeness that energizes our lives and surprises us with the possibilities for connection, insight, creativity, and wonder.

As you realign your goals with your true, complete self I hope that your journey across this bridge to understanding offers you a fulfillment that you could never even imagine is possible.

It is never too late to have a happy life.
